Volunteer Information

The Maryland Craft Beer Competition and the Brewers Association of Maryland (BAM) are seeking qualified judges, stewards, and staff.

The 2024 Maryland Craft Beer Competition is a Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP) and fully sanctioned competition. The competition will use the GABF style guidelines for entry classification and judging.

The Competition seeks the most experienced judges possible. Judging assignment preference will be given to BJCP ranked judges and those with Cicerone certification, or experience with production brewing, sensory analysis and evaluation.  

Date / Time / Location

Judging will occur on Saturday, 19 October 2024 at Heavy Seas Beer  located at 4615 Hollins Ferry Road Halethorpe, MD 21227.

Judging will commence at approximately 9:00 a.m. and conclude by 5:00 p.m.

A light breakfast will be served starting at 8:30 a.m. and will consist of a various assortment of purchased provisions provided by our sponsors. Catered lunch will be served between the morning and afternoon judging sessions.

Cleanup

For those dedicated individuals who want to stick around and assist with cleanup, we will be splitting the remaining entries as a way to say thanks.

Travel and Logistics

If you’re travelling from out of town and paying tolls, bring us a copy of your toll receipt and we’ll reimburse you.
